The Gulf is
Widening
I designed this website in Adobe XD to inform viewers about political polarization in the United States. It discusses the evidence for the divide, the causes, the effects, and potential solutions. I focused on the user's experience while navigating the site and ensured that the site was easy to follow and navigate.
About
Wireframes
When laying out these wireframes, I was focused on laying out each page's content, and figuring out how to make the user's experience as frictionless as possible. One method I found for doing this was to create a large button at the bottom of each page that was linked to the following page. This made it very easy for the user to navigate the site. It also had the benefit of the users spending more time on the site to see all the content, because moving on to the next page was so simple.
Branding Guidelines
For the website's branding, I used a limited color palette to keep the focus on the site's content, but also due to the topic matter. Red and blue are commonly associated with politics, as is the grayscale. Any other colors would feel out of place. I chose to use Doland as my heading font, and Helvetica for body text. Doland, as a serif font, is more serious, but it is less rigid than other serif fonts, so it works well here. Helvetica is easy to read and is a good choice for body copy.
Final Project
I held mostly true to my initial wireframes for the website, but made a few changes for the final to improve page layouts and the user experience. I designed the graphics for the pages, inspired by the graphic design work of Klawe Rzeczy.
